Enzyme Chooser Overview

When working with the Map and MapPlot programs, you can choose the enzyme set to be used in the analysis. To view, create, or modify the chosen enzyme set, click the View Chosen Enzymes button in the Program Input Area. The Enzyme Chooser window displays, with the enzymes available in that set displayed in the lower left frame, and the enzymes chosen to be used in the analysis displayed in the lower right frame.

Choosing Enzymes

To select the enzyme set that contains the enzymes you want to use in the analysis, use the drop-down list at the top of the Enzyme Chooser window. If you change the selected enzyme set, the enzymes available and chosen will change accordingly.

To find a specific enzyme in the available set, you can search by using the Search Available Enzymes text box. When you start typing in the text box, the list scrolls to the enzyme that most closely matches your input.

To choose the enzymes you want to use in analysis, select one or more entries in the left frame and click the Move button. The chosen enzymes move to the frame on the right.

To choose all available enzymes in that set, click the Move All button.

To remove one or more enzymes from the chosen set, select those enzymes in the right frame and click the Remove button.

To remove all enzymes from the chosen set, click the Remove All button.

To restore the settings back to what they were when you specified the current enzyme set, click the Reset button.

Showing Isoschizomers

To show isoschizomers similar to the enzymes in your chosen set, select one or more of the chosen enzymes, then click the Show Isoschizomers button. The Show Iso window displays and identifies the selected items (that is, the chosen enzymes) on the left and the isoschizomers on the right. If there is more than one item in the left column, click one to see the isoschizomers associated with that enzyme on the right.

You can then add or replace the selected enzyme with the associated isoschizomer. To add an isoschizomer to the chosen enzyme set, click the isoschizomer on the right, then the Add Iso button.

To replace the selected enzyme in the chosen enzyme set with an associated isoschizomer, click the isoschizomer on the right, then the Replace with Iso button. The originally selected enzyme is replaced with the isoschizomer in the chosen enzyme set.

Saving Enzyme Sets

If you are working with a previously saved enzyme set and you want to save the changes you've made to that set, click the Save button at the bottom of the Enzyme Chooser window to save your changes in that file.

If you want to create a new enzyme set, click the Save As button at the bottom of the Enzyme Chooser window. A Save As window will display and prompt you for the name of the new enzyme file.

Deleting Enzyme Sets

You can delete an enzyme set by selecting it using the drop-down list at the top of the Enzyme Chooser window, then clicking the Delete button. A pop up window will allow you to confirm that you want to delete the enzyme set.
