Chapter 4. The Job Manager |
|
This chapter describes how to use the Job Manager to check the job status of your SeqWeb program runs. It also explains how to terminate a job that you do not want to complete, and how you can quickly view the results and refine a job for further analysis.
About the Job Manager
The Job Manager keeps track of each SeqWeb program analysis that you run, and lets you know if the program completed successfully. From the Job Manager, you can also view results and refine a job for further analysis, just as you can from the Results Manager.
To open the Job Manager:
|
The Job Manager displays all jobs run, putting the most recent runs at the top of the list. Jobs stay on the list until you view their results. Once you view results from the Job Manager, the job is deleted from the job queue and you will need to access the results using the Results Manager.
To check on the status of a job or program run:
The list is organized so the most recent job is at the top. The Status column tells you whether or not the job has completed.
Note: If you do not see your job on the list, click Refresh to update the display. You can also reset the refresh delay from the default of 30 seconds.
The Job Manager allows you to terminate or kill a program before it completes. This is especially useful if you realize you entered a parameter incorrectly, or change your mind about a setting.
To terminate or kill a job:
(If the Cancel button is not displayed, the job has already completed or failed.)
The job is stopped and removed from the Job Manager display when it refreshes.
The Job Manager provides easy access to job results, without having to go through the Results Manager. However, once you view results from the Job Manager, the job is deleted from the job queue and you will need to access the results using the Results Manager.
To quickly view the results of a job from within the Job Manager:
(If you do not see your job, you may have already viewed the results, in which case you will need to use the Results Manager to view them again.)
The job's results display in a separate browser window.
Note: Once you view your results from the Job Manager, that job is deleted from the list. However, the results are still accessible from the Results Manager.
For more information about analysis results, see the Results Manager chapter.
The Job Manager provides an easy way to refine your analysis by repeating a program run with different parameters.
To refine the analysis associated with a job run:
(If the job is no longer listed, you will need to use the Results Manager to view and refine the results.)
The program associated with that run displays so you can easily change the parameters and run the analysis again.
